Pork Belly Bao
Delicious steamed buns filled with succulent braised pork belly.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Hoisin sauce - To taste
- Spring onions - 4, thinly sliced
- Cucumber - 1, thinly sliced
- Bao buns - 12
- Star anise - 2
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Rice wine - 1/4 cup
- Soy sauce - 1/2 cup
- Sugar - 1/4 cup
- Pork belly - 1 kg
Let's Get Started
- Cut the pork belly into thick slices.
- In a large pot, combine the pork belly, sugar, soy sauce, rice wine, garlic, and star anise. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 2 hours.
- Remove the pork belly from the pot and let it cool.
- Steam the bao buns according to the package instructions.
- Fill each bun with a slice of pork belly, cucumber, spring onions, and a drizzle of hoisin sauce.
- Serve the pork belly bao warm.
