Poori
Poori is a popular Indian bread, deep fried and served hot, often enjoyed with curry or bhaji. It puffs up during frying, resulting in a round, hollow bread.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Oil - For deep frying
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - Approximately 3/4 cup
- Whole wheat flour - 2 cups

- In a large bowl, mix the whole wheat flour and salt.
- Gradually add water to the flour and knead into a firm dough.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
- Divide the dough into small, equal-sized balls.
- Roll out each ball into a small, round disc using a rolling pin.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, gently slide the rolled dough into the oil.
- Fry the poori until it puffs up and turns golden brown on both sides.
- Remove the poori with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with curry or bhaji.
