Pitepalt
Pitepalt is a traditional Swedish dish made with grated potatoes and filled with a mixture of pork and onions.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Lingonberry jam - For serving
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- All-purpose flour - 1 cup
- Pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Pork - 300 grams, ground
- Potatoes - 6 large, peeled and grated
Let's Get Started
- Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out any excess moisture.
- In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, ground pork, chopped onion, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into a ball. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully drop the potato balls into the boiling water.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 45 minutes, or until the pitepalt float to the surface.
- Remove the pitepalt from the water using a slotted spoon and drain well.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the drained pitepalt and cook until golden brown on all sides.
- Serve the pitepalt hot with lingonberry jam on the side.
