Ingredients - Serves 6
- Dark chocolate shavings - For garnish
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Heavy cream - 1 cup
- Egg yolks - 4
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Strong brewed coffee - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- In a medium saucepan, combine the coffee and half of the sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and the remaining sugar until well combined.
- Slowly pour the hot coffee mixture into the egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat and let cool completely.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- Fold the whipped cream into the cooled coffee mixture until well combined.
- Pour the mixture into a loaf pan and freeze for at least 3 hours, or until firm.
- To serve, slice the semifreddo and garnish with dark chocolate shavings.
