Pad Kra Pao
Pad Kra Pao, also known as Thai Basil Stir-Fry, is a popular Thai dish made with minced meat, Thai holy basil, and a flavorful sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Steamed rice - 2 cups
- Fried egg - 2, optional
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Fish sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Oyster sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Thai bird's eye chili - 3-4, finely chopped
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Thai holy basil leaves - 2 cups
- Ground chicken - 250 grams
Let's Get Started
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add minced garlic and chopped Thai bird's eye chili. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add ground chicken and cook until it is no longer pink, breaking it up into small pieces.
- In a small bowl, mix together oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Pour the sauce mixture into the wok and stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes.
- Add Thai holy basil leaves and stir-fry until wilted.
- Remove from heat and serve the Pad Kra Pao over steamed rice.
- Optional: Top each serving with a fried egg for added richness and flavor.
