Braised Pork Rice
A classic Taiwanese comfort food, braised pork rice features tender, flavorful pork served over steamed rice.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Steamed rice - 4 cups
- Water - 2 cups
- Cinnamon stick - 1
- Star anise - 2
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Rice wine - 1/4 cup
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1/2 cup
- Pork belly - 1 pound, cut into chunks
Let's Get Started
- Heat a pot over medium heat and add the pork belly. Cook until browned on all sides.
- Add the soy sauce, sugar, rice wine, garlic, star anise, and cinnamon stick to the pot. Stir to combine.
- Add the water and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 2 hours.
- Serve the braised pork over steamed rice.
