Kao Ka Moo
Kao Ka Moo is a popular Thai street food dish. It's a slow-cooked pork leg stew served with rice, pickled mustard greens, and a hard-boiled egg.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Steamed rice - 4 servings
- Pickled mustard greens - 1 cup
- Hard-boiled eggs - 4
- Coriander roots - 3, crushed
- Peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
- Cinnamon stick - 1
- Star anise - 5
- Garlic - 5 cloves, crushed
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Oyster sauce - 1/2 cup
- Soy sauce - 1 cup
- Pork leg - 1 whole
Let's Get Started
- Clean the pork leg and place it in a large pot.
- Add enough water to the pot to cover the pork leg.
- Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, garlic, star anise, cinnamon stick, peppercorns, and coriander roots to the pot.
- Bring the pot to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 3 hours, or until the pork leg is tender.
- Add the hard-boiled eggs to the pot during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
- Serve the pork leg stew with steamed rice and pickled mustard greens.
