Ostefondue
Ostefondue is a traditional Swiss dish that is perfect for sharing. It's made by melting cheese and dipping bread into the cheese using long-stemmed forks.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Baguette - 1, cut into bite-sized pieces
- Pepper - To taste
- Nutmeg - A pinch
- Kirsch - 2 tablespoons
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- White wine - 1 cup
- Garlic - 1 clove
- Emmental cheese - 200 grams
- Gruyere cheese - 200 grams
Let's Get Started
- Grate the Gruyere and Emmental cheese and set aside.
- Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the garlic clove.
- Pour the wine into the pot and heat gently until hot, but not boiling.
- Gradually add the cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.
- In a small bowl, blend the cornstarch smoothly with the kirsch, then stir into the cheese mixture.
- Continue to cook gently, stirring constantly until thickened and smooth.
- Season with nutmeg and pepper.
- Serve the fondue with the pieces of baguette for dipping.
