Fondue Savoyarde
Fondue Savoyarde is a traditional Swiss dish made with melted cheese, garlic, white wine, and served with bread cubes for dipping.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Baguette - 1, cubed
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
- Kirsch (cherry brandy) - 2 tablespoons
- Dry white wine - 200ml
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Emmental cheese - 200g, grated
- Gruyere cheese - 400g, grated
Let's Get Started
- Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the garlic cloves.
- In a bowl, mix the grated Gruyere and Emmental cheeses with cornstarch.
- Pour the white wine into the fondue pot and heat over medium heat until hot, but not boiling.
- Gradually add the cheese mixture to the pot, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.
- Stir in the Kirsch and continue to cook for another minute.
- Place the fondue pot on a fondue burner and adjust the heat to keep the cheese mixture warm and melted.
- Serve with cubed baguette for dipping into the melted cheese.
