Orh Luak
Orh Luak, also known as Oyster Omelette, is a popular street food in Taiwan and Singapore. It's a savory dish made with small oysters, eggs, and a starchy batter, fried to perfection and served with a tangy chili sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Chili sauce - For serving
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- White pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Water - 1/4 cup
- Tapioca starch - 2 tablespoons
- Eggs - 3
- Small oysters - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Rinse the oysters under cold water and drain well.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, tapioca starch, water, garlic, green onions, salt, and white pepper.
- Heat the oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat.
- Pour the egg mixture into the pan and spread it out evenly.
- Add the oysters on top of the egg mixture.
- Cook for about 5 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown.
- Flip the omelette and cook for another 3-5 minutes, or until the other side is golden brown.
- Serve the omelette hot with chili sauce on the side.
