Onion Dosa
Onion dosa is a popular South Indian dish made with fermented rice and lentil batter, topped with sautéed onions.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - To taste
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Curry leaves - 10 leaves, chopped
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Onion - 1 large, thinly sliced
- Dosa batter - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add sliced onions, green chili, and curry leaves. Sauté until onions turn golden brown.
- Add salt to taste and mix well.
- Heat a dosa tawa or non-stick pan over medium heat.
- Pour a ladleful of dosa batter onto the center of the tawa and spread it in a circular motion to form a thin dosa.
- Drizzle some oil around the edges of the dosa and on top.
- Spread a spoonful of the sautéed onion mixture evenly on top of the dosa.
- Cook until the dosa turns golden brown and crispy on the bottom.
- Flip the dosa and cook for another minute on the other side.
- Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
