Ingredients - Serves 6

Let's Get Started

  1. Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the soaked rice and transfer it to a steamer basket lined with pandan leaves.
  3. Steam the rice over high heat for 20-25 minutes, or until it becomes soft and sticky.
  4. While the rice is steaming, prepare the coconut sauce. In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, salt, and water. Heat over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.
  5. Remove the steamed rice from the steamer and transfer it to a mixing bowl. Pour the coconut sauce over the rice and mix well to coat the rice evenly.
  6. Let the rice mixture sit for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  7. To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate and top with sliced bananas. Sprinkle with sesame seeds for garnish.
  8. Enjoy the delicious Num Plae Ai!
