Nem Nuong
Nem Nuong are deliciously flavored, grilled Vietnamese pork skewers that are perfect as a standalone appetizer, or as a main course in a vermicelli bowl.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Wooden skewers - 12, soaked in water for 30 minutes
- Water - 2 tablespoons
- Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ground pork - 1 pound
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, minced garlic, sugar, fish sauce, black pepper, baking powder, and water. Mix well until the mixture becomes sticky.
- Divide the pork mixture into 12 portions. Shape each portion into a sausage shape and thread onto a soaked wooden skewer.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Grill the skewers for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the pork is cooked through and slightly charred.
- Serve the skewers hot, with rice or vermicelli noodles and your favorite dipping sauce.
