Nashville Hot Chicken Burger
A spicy, crispy chicken burger inspired by the famous Nashville hot chicken, served with pickles and coleslaw on a soft bun.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Coleslaw - 1 cup
- Pickles - 1 cup, sliced
- Buns - 4
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Garlic powder - 1 tablespoon
- Cayenne pepper - 2 tablespoons
- Flour - 2 cups
- Hot sauce - 1/2 cup
- Buttermilk - 2 cups
- Chicken breasts - 4, boneless and skinless
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, combine the buttermilk and half of the hot sauce. Add the chicken breasts and let marinate for at least 1 hour.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade and dredge in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- Fry the chicken in the hot oil until golden and crispy, about 5 minutes per side.
- In a small bowl, combine the remaining hot sauce with a tablespoon of the frying oil to make the Nashville hot sauce.
- Brush the cooked chicken with the Nashville hot sauce.
- Serve the chicken on the buns with pickles and coleslaw.
