Mutton Curry
This flavorful mutton curry is made with tender pieces of mutton cooked in a rich and aromatic curry sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh coriander leaves - For garnish
- Oil - 3 tablespoons
- Salt - To taste
- Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 tablespoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Yogurt - 1/4 cup
- Green chilies - 2, slit
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
- Tomatoes - 2 medium, pureed
- Onions - 2 medium, finely chopped
- Mutton - 500 grams, cut into pieces
Let's Get Started
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and cook until golden brown.
- Add the grated ginger, minced garlic, and slit green chilies. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the mutton pieces and cook until browned on all sides.
- In a bowl, whisk together the yogurt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt.
- Add the yogurt mixture to the pot and mix well to coat the mutton.
- Cook for 5 minutes, then add the tomato puree and mix well.
- Cover the pot and simmer for 1 hour, or until the mutton is tender and cooked through.
- Sprinkle garam masala over the curry and mix well.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with rice or naan bread.
