Mutter Paneer
Mutter Paneer is a popular Indian dish made with green peas and paneer (Indian cottage cheese) cooked in a flavorful tomato-based gravy.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh coriander leaves - For garnish
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - To taste
- Fresh cream - 2 tablespoons
- Kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves) - 1 tablespoon
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
- Tomatoes - 2, pureed
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Green peas - 1 cup
- Paneer - 200 grams, cubed
Let's Get Started
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add grated ginger, minced garlic, and chopped green chili. Sauté for a minute.
- Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, and garam masala. Mix well.
- Add the pureed tomatoes and cook until the oil separates from the masala.
- Add green peas and cubed paneer. Mix well.
- Add salt and kasuri methi. Mix gently.
- Cover the pan and cook for 10-15 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.
- Add fresh cream and mix well. Cook for another 2 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with roti or rice.
