Murgh Makhani
Murgh Makhani, also known as Butter Chicken, is a classic Indian dish made with tender chicken pieces cooked in a creamy tomato sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt - To taste
- Cream - 1/2 cup
- Tomato puree - 1 cup
- Ginger - 1 inch piece, grated
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Butter - 4 tablespoons
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam masala - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric - 1 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Yogurt - 1 cup
- Chicken - 500 grams, boneless
Let's Get Started
- Marinate the chicken with yogurt, lemon juice, turmeric, garam masala, and chili powder. Set aside for at least 2 hours.
- Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until it is fully cooked. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, melt the remaining butter. Add the onion, garlic, and ginger, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the tomato puree and cook for a few minutes until it thickens.
- Add the cooked chicken to the pan and mix well. Cook for a few more minutes.
- Stir in the cream and season with salt. Cook for a few more minutes until the sauce is thick and creamy.
- Serve the Murgh Makhani with naan or rice.
