Diamond Heights Daal

Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Rinse the lentils until the water runs clear. Add them to a pot with the water, turmeric, and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until the lentils are soft, about 20 minutes.
  2. In a separate pan, heat the ghee or oil over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and cook until they start to pop.
  3. Add the onion, garlic, and ginger to the pan and cook until the onion is soft and golden.
  4. Add the tomatoes and garam masala to the pan and cook until the tomatoes are soft and the spices are well blended.
  5. Add the onion and tomato mixture to the lentils and stir well. Simmer for another 10 minutes to let the flavors meld together.
  6. Serve the daal hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
