Moong Dal Tadka
Moong Dal Tadka is a simple Indian dish made with yellow lentils. It's a flavorful and healthy dish that can be served with rice or roti.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Coriander leaves - for garnish
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Green chili - 1, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Ghee (clarified butter) - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 3 cups
- Moong dal (yellow lentils) - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Rinse the moong dal under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a pot, add the moong dal, water, turmeric powder, and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until the dal is soft, about 20 minutes.
- In a separate pan, heat the ghee over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and let them crackle.
- Add the minced garlic and chopped green chili to the pan and sauté until the garlic is golden brown.
- Add the red chili powder to the pan and stir well.
- Pour the ghee and spice mixture (tadka) over the cooked dal and stir well.
- Garnish with coriander leaves before serving.
