Menemen
Menemen is a traditional Turkish breakfast dish featuring eggs, tomatoes, green peppers, and spices such as ground black pepper, ground red pepper, salt and oregano.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Oregano - 1/4 teaspoon
- Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Eggs - 4
- Tomatoes - 4 medium, chopped
- Green bell pepper - 1, chopped
- Onion - 1 medium, chopped
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
Let's Get Started
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the onion and green bell pepper to the skillet and sauté until they begin to soften.
- Add the chopped tomatoes to the skillet and stir to combine. Cook until the tomatoes begin to break down and release their juices.
- Crack the eggs into the skillet and stir gently to combine. Cook until the eggs are done to your liking.
- Season with salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and oregano. Stir to combine.
- Serve the menemen hot, with bread on the side if desired.
