Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Soak the tamarind in warm water for 15 minutes and extract the juice.
  2. Marinate the fish with a pinch of turmeric and salt and set aside for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add the fenugreek seeds and curry leaves.
  4. Add the chopped onions and garlic and sauté until they turn golden brown.
  5. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft.
  6. Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder and salt. Mix well.
  7. Add the tamarind extract and bring it to a boil.
  8. Add the marinated fish and cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes or until the fish is cooked thoroughly.
  9. Serve the Meen Kuzhambu hot with rice.
