Mchuzi Wa Samaki
Mchuzi wa Samaki is a delicious Tanzanian fish curry made with coconut milk, spices, and fresh fish.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Cooking oil - 2 tablespoons
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Fresh coriander - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Salt - To taste
- Cayenne pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Curry powder - 2 teaspoons
- Tomatoes - 2 medium, chopped
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
- Coconut milk - 1 can (400ml)
- Fish fillets - 500g
Let's Get Started
- Heat the cooking oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the curry powder, turmeric powder, and cayenne pepper. Stir well to coat the onions and spices.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
- Pour in the coconut milk and bring to a simmer.
- Add the fish fillets to the pan and gently stir to coat them with the sauce. Cook for about 10 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through.
- Season with salt to taste.
- Stir in the chopped fresh coriander and lime juice.
- Serve the Mchuzi wa Samaki hot with steamed rice or chapati.
