Matar Paneer
Matar Paneer is a popular Indian dish made from peas and paneer (cottage cheese) in a rich and spicy tomato-based sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh coriander leaves - for garnish
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
- Garam masala powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 2 teaspoons
- Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Green chillies - 2, slit
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
- Tomatoes - 2, finely chopped
- Onions - 2, finely chopped
- Green peas - 1 cup
- Paneer (cottage cheese) - 200 grams
Let's Get Started
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they start to splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chillies, sauté for a few more minutes.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and coriander powder. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and the spices are well blended.
- Add the paneer and peas to the pan, mix well to ensure they are coated with the spices.
- Add salt and a cup of water, cover the pan and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
- Sprinkle garam masala over the curry and mix well.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
