Lu Rou Fan
Lu Rou Fan, also known as Taiwanese Braised Pork Rice Bowl, is a popular comfort food in Taiwan. The dish is made of ground pork braised in soy sauce and served over rice.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Steamed rice - 4 cups
- Hard boiled eggs - 4
- Water - 2 cups
- White pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cinnamon stick - 1
- Star anise - 2
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Rice wine - 1/4 cup
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1/2 cup
- Ground pork - 500 grams
Let's Get Started
- In a pot, add the ground pork, soy sauce, sugar, rice wine, minced garlic, star anise, cinnamon stick, and white pepper.
- Add water and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 2 hours.
- Add the hard boiled eggs to the pot in the last 30 minutes of cooking.
- Serve the braised pork and an egg over steamed rice.
