Ingredients - Serves 6

Let's Get Started

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Let sit for 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Add the flour, salt, and warm milk to the yeast mixture. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the dough into the hot oil and fry until golden brown.
  6. Remove the doughnuts with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  7. Warm the honey in a small saucepan or in the microwave and drizzle over the doughnuts.
  8. Sprinkle with cinnamon and crushed walnuts if desired. Serve warm.
