Loempia
Loempia is a traditional Indonesian spring roll commonly found in the Netherlands. It's filled with a delicious mixture of vegetables and meat, then deep-fried to golden perfection.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - For deep frying
- Spring roll wrappers - 12 pieces
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Bean sprouts - 1 cup
- Carrots - 1 cup, shredded
- Cabbage - 1 cup, shredded
- Ground pork - 200 grams
Let's Get Started
- In a large pan, cook the ground pork over medium heat until no longer pink.
- Add the cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, and garlic. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
- Stir in the soy sauce and remove from heat. Let the mixture cool.
- Place a spoonful of the mixture onto each spring roll wrapper. Fold the sides and roll tightly.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Fry the spring rolls until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
