Lap Khmer
Lap Khmer is a traditional Cambodian salad made with marinated beef, fresh herbs, and lime dressing.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Roasted peanuts - 1/4 cup, crushed
- Bird's eye chili - 1, finely chopped
- Fresh lemongrass - 2 stalks, finely chopped
- Fresh basil leaves - 1/2 cup, chopped
- Fresh cilantro leaves - 1/2 cup, chopped
- Fresh mint leaves - 1/2 cup, chopped
- Red onion - 1/2 cup, thinly sliced
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Lime juice - 1/4 cup
- Beef sirloin - 1 pound, thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, combine the lime juice, fish sauce, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Add the sliced beef to the marinade and let it sit for 10 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine the red onion, mint leaves, cilantro leaves, basil leaves, lemongrass, and chili.
- Heat a skillet over high heat and add the marinated beef. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the beef is cooked through.
- Transfer the cooked beef to the bowl with the herb mixture and toss to combine.
- Garnish with crushed peanuts and serve immediately.
