Kuzhi Paniyaram
Kuzhi Paniyaram is a popular South Indian dish, made with fermented batter of rice and lentils. It's a perfect breakfast or snack option.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Oil - As required
- Salt - To taste
- Urad dal - 1/2 teaspoon
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
- Curry leaves - Few, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1 inch piece, finely chopped
- Green chillies - 2, finely chopped
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Idli/dosa batter - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once they splutter, add urad dal.
- When the dal turns golden, add finely chopped onions, green chillies, ginger and curry leaves.
- Saute until the onions turn transparent. Then, add this to the idli/dosa batter.
- Add salt to the batter and mix well.
- Heat the paniyaram pan and drizzle some oil in each mould.
- Pour the batter into each mould and cover the pan. Cook on medium heat.
- After a few minutes, flip each paniyaram using a spoon or skewer. Cook until it turns golden brown.
- Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
