Knäck
Knäck is a traditional Swedish toffee candy made with sugar, cream, and syrup.
Ingredients - Serves 20
- Sea salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Light corn syrup - 1/2 cup
- Heavy cream - 1 cup
- Granulated sugar - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone mat.
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the sugar, cream, corn syrup, butter, vanilla extract, and sea salt.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture reaches 250°F (120°C) on a candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat and let it cool for a minute.
- Carefully pour the hot mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, forming small circles or squares.
- Let the knäck cool completely at room temperature until firm.
- Once cooled and hardened, remove the knäck from the baking sheet and store in an airtight container.
