Kimchi Jeon
Kimchi Jeon is a traditional Korean pancake made with kimchi and flour batter. It is a popular appetizer or side dish in Korean cuisine.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Egg - 1
- Water - 1 cup
- All-purpose flour - 1 cup
- Kimchi - 1 cup, chopped
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, water, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well to make a smooth batter.
- Add the chopped kimchi and green onions to the batter. Mix until well combined.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Scoop a ladleful of the kimchi batter onto the skillet and spread it evenly to form a pancake.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown. Flip the pancake and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Repeat the process with the remaining batter to make more pancakes.
- In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce and sesame oil to make a dipping sauce.
- Serve the kimchi jeon hot with the dipping sauce on the side.
