Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Rinse the jasmine rice and soak it in water for 10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the ginger slices and minced garlic.
  3. Add the fish fillets to the boiling water and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until cooked through. Remove the fish from the pot and set aside.
  4. In the same pot, add the soaked jasmine rice and cook for 10 minutes, or until the rice is soft and cooked.
  5. While the rice is cooking, flake the cooked fish into small pieces.
  6. Once the rice is cooked, add the flaked fish back into the pot. Stir in the chopped spring onions, cilantro, fish sauce, soy sauce, lime juice, salt, and pepper.
  7. Simmer the soup for another 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  8. Serve the Khao Tom Pla hot, garnished with additional chopped cilantro and spring onions, if desired.
