Kerala Fried Fish is a popular South Indian dish made with marinated fish fillets coated in a flavorful spice mix and deep-fried to perfection.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Oil - For deep frying
- Salt - To taste
- Lemon juice - 2 tablespoons
- Black pepper powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
- Ginger-garlic paste - 2 tablespoons
- Fish fillets - 500 grams
Let's Get Started
- Clean and wash the fish fillets. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
- In a bowl, mix together ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, black pepper powder, lemon juice, and salt to make a marinade.
- Coat the fish fillets with the marinade and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep pan or kadai for frying.
- Carefully place the marinated fish fillets in the hot oil and fry them until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
- Remove the fried fish from the oil and drain excess oil on a paper towel.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or as an appetizer with mint chutney.
