Keema Pulao with Basmati Rice
Keema Pulao is a flavorful rice dish made with basmati rice and minced meat.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh coriander leaves - For garnish
- Water - 4 cups
- Whole spices (cinnamon, cardamom, cloves) - 2 each
- Ghee - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - To taste
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Yogurt - 1/4 cup
- Tomato - 1, chopped
- Green chili - 2, slit
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
- Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
- Minced meat (beef or lamb) - 500 grams
- Basmati rice - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Wash the basmati rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Heat ghee in a large pot over medium heat. Add the whole spices and sauté for a minute until fragrant.
- Add the chopped onions and cook until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chili. Sauté for a minute.
- Add the minced meat and cook until it changes color and is no longer pink.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add yogurt and mix well. Cook for another 2 minutes.
- Add the soaked and drained basmati rice to the pot. Stir gently to combine with the meat mixture.
- Pour in the water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
- Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
