Kala Jamun
Kala Jamun is a popular Indian dessert made with milk solids, sugar, and ghee. It's a darker and slightly sweeter variant of Gulab Jamun.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Ghee - For deep frying
- Cardamom powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 4 cups
- Sugar - 2 cups
- All-purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
- Paneer - 50 grams
- Milk solids (khoya) - 200 grams
Let's Get Started
- Grate the khoya and paneer and mix them together.
- Add the flour to the khoya and paneer mixture and knead to make a smooth dough.
- Divide the dough into small portions and shape each portion into a round ball.
- Heat the ghee in a deep pan and deep fry the balls until they turn dark brown.
- In another pan, combine the sugar and water and bring to a boil. Add the cardamom powder and stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Add the fried balls to the sugar syrup and let them soak for at least 2 hours before serving.
