Juletorsk
Juletorsk, or Christmas cod, is a traditional Norwegian dish served during the holiday season. This recipe features cod baked in a creamy sauce with potatoes and carrots.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh dill - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Carrots - 2, peeled and sliced
- Potatoes - 4, peeled and sliced
- Milk - 2 cups
- All-purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
- Onion - 1, finely chopped
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Cod fillets - 4 (6 ounce)
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Season the cod fillets with salt and pepper.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until soft and translucent.
- Stir in the flour until well combined. Gradually whisk in the milk until the sauce is smooth and thickened.
- Arrange the potatoes and carrots in a baking dish. Place the cod fillets on top.
- Pour the sauce over the cod and vegetables. Sprinkle with the dill.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the cod is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.
