Let's Get Started

  1. Soak the tamarind in warm water for 10 minutes, then squeeze out the juice and discard the pulp.
  2. Heat a pot and add the mustard seeds. When they start to splutter, add the cumin seeds, asafoetida, and curry leaves.
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they are soft.
  4. Add the tamarind juice, rasam powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well.
  5. Add water and bring the mixture to a boil.
  6. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves before serving.
