Jalfrezi Curry
Jalfrezi curry is a spicy and flavorful Indian dish made with a combination of vegetables, meat, or seafood cooked in a rich tomato-based sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh coriander leaves - For garnish
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - To taste
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Green chilies - 2, chopped
- Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Tomatoes - 2, chopped
- Bell peppers - 2, sliced
- Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
- Chicken - 500 grams, boneless and cut into pieces
Let's Get Started
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chilies. Sauté for a minute.
- Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- Add the sliced bell peppers and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they are soft and mushy.
- Add the turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add a little water if needed to adjust the consistency of the curry.
- Sprinkle garam masala and mix well.
- Simmer for another 5 minutes to allow the flavors to blend together.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or naan bread.
