Iskender Kebap
Iskender Kebap is a popular Turkish dish made with thinly sliced lamb or beef in tomato sauce, served over pieces of pita bread and generously slathered with melted sheep butter and yogurt.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Yogurt - 1 cup
- Sheep butter - 100 grams, melted
- Pita bread - 4 pieces
- Tomato sauce - 2 cups
- Lamb or beef - 500 grams, thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 200°C.
- Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat and add the thinly sliced meat. Cook until browned on all sides.
- Add the tomato sauce, salt, and pepper to the pan and simmer for 15 minutes.
- Cut the pita bread into small pieces and place them at the bottom of a baking dish.
- Pour the meat and sauce mixture over the pita bread.
- Drizzle the melted sheep butter over the top.
- Bake in the oven for 10 minutes.
- Serve the Iskender Kebap hot, with a side of yogurt.
