Icli Kofte
Icli Kofte, also known as Turkish stuffed meatballs, is a delicious and traditional Turkish dish. It's made with a shell of bulgur wheat and stuffed with a flavorful mixture of ground beef, onions, and spices.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Flour - For dusting
- Egg - 1
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Parsley - 1/2 cup, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onions - 2, finely chopped
- Ground beef - 1 lb
- Bulgur wheat - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Soak the bulgur wheat in warm water for 30 minutes, then drain.
- In a pan, cook the ground beef, onions, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onions are soft.
- Add the parsley, cumin, salt, and pepper to the beef mixture and stir well.
- In a large bowl, combine the soaked bulgur wheat and egg. Mix until a dough forms.
- Take a small amount of the bulgur dough and flatten it in your hand. Place a spoonful of the beef mixture in the center and fold the dough over to enclose the filling. Shape it into a ball or oval. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
- Dust the koftes with flour.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot. Fry the koftes until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
