Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Wash the basmati rice and moong dal together and soak them in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add chopped ginger, garlic, green chillies and onions. Saute until the onions turn golden brown.
  4. Drain the water from the soaked rice and dal, add them to the cooker.
  5. Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix well.
  6. Add 4 cups of water and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  7. Let the pressure release naturally. Open the lid and fluff the khichdi with a fork.
  8. Serve hot with pickle and yogurt.
