Homemade Horchata

Ingredients - Serves 6

Let's Get Started

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Combine the rice, 4 cups of water, and the cinnamon stick in a blender. Blend until the rice and cinnamon stick are roughly ground up (1-2 minutes).
  3. Pour the mixture into a large pitcher and add the remaining cup of water. Let it sit at room temperature for at least 8 hours, or overnight.
  4. After the mixture has sat for 8 hours, strain it into a bowl through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth. Discard the rice and cinnamon stick.
  5. Stir the milk, vanilla extract, and sugar into the strained liquid.
  6. Chill the horchata in the fridge, or serve it over ice. Enjoy!
