Gyoza
Gyoza are Japanese dumplings filled with ground meat and vegetables, crimped, and pan-fried to crispy perfection.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Gyoza wrappers - 50 pieces
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Green onions - 2, finely chopped
- Cabbage - 1 cup, finely chopped
- Ground pork - 200 grams
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, cabbage, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper.
- Place a spoonful of the pork mixture in the center of a gyoza wrapper. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water, fold in half, and crimp the edges to seal.
- Repeat with the remaining wrappers and pork mixture.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add the gyoza and cook until the bottoms are golden brown, about 3 minutes.
- Add 1/4 cup of water to the pan, cover, and steam the gyoza until the water has evaporated and the gyoza are cooked through, about 5 minutes.
- Serve the gyoza with soy sauce for dipping.
