Gorditas de Chicharron

- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Chicharron - 1 cup, finely chopped
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 1 1/2 cups
- Masa harina - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the masa harina and salt. Gradually add the water, mixing with your hands until the dough comes together.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and roll each into a ball.
- Flatten each ball into a disc about 1/4 inch thick.
- Place a spoonful of the chicharron in the center of each disc and fold the dough over to enclose the filling, sealing the edges well.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Fry the gorditas, a few at a time, until golden brown on both sides, about 2 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels.
- Serve the gorditas hot, with salsa and sour cream on the side.
