Placki Ziemniaczane
Placki ziemniaczane, also known as potato pancakes, are a traditional Polish dish made with grated potatoes, onions, and flour. They are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, perfect as a side dish or a main course.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Applesauce - 1/2 cup, for serving
- Sour cream - 1/2 cup, for serving
- Vegetable oil - 1/4 cup, for frying
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 1/4 cup
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Onion - 1 medium, grated
- Potatoes - 4 large, peeled and grated
Let's Get Started
- Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out any excess moisture.
- In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, grated onion, beaten egg, flour, and salt. Mix well.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Drop spoonfuls of the potato mixture into the hot oil and flatten them with the back of a spoon to form pancakes.
- Cook the pancakes for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Transfer the cooked pancakes to a paper towel-lined plate to remove any excess oil.
- Serve the placki ziemniaczane hot with sour cream and applesauce on the side.
