Gongura Mutton
Gongura Mutton is a popular Andhra dish made with mutton (goat meat) and gongura leaves. The tanginess of the gongura leaves adds a unique taste to this spicy curry.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - To taste
- Garam masala powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tablespoon
- Green chillies - 4
- Onions - 2, finely chopped
- Gongura leaves - 2 cups
- Mutton - 500 grams
Let's Get Started
- Clean the mutton pieces and marinate with turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, ginger garlic paste and salt. Set aside for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan, add chopped onions and green chillies. Saute until onions turn golden brown.
- Add the marinated mutton to the pan and cook on a medium flame until the mutton is tender.
- In another pan, add the gongura leaves and cook until they become soft. Let it cool and make a puree.
- Add the gongura puree to the cooked mutton and mix well. Cook for another 10-15 minutes.
- Gongura Mutton is ready to serve. Serve hot with rice or roti.
