Gochujang Popcorn Chicken
This crispy and flavorful Korean-inspired popcorn chicken is coated in a spicy gochujang sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Toasted sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (for garnish)
- Green onions - 2, thinly sliced (for garnish)
- Vegetable oil - For frying
- Egg - 1, beaten
- All-purpose flour - 1/2 cup
- Cornstarch - 1/2 cup
- Ginger powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Gochujang paste - 3 tablespoons
- Chicken breast - 2 breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, mix together the gochujang paste, soy sauce, garlic powder, and ginger powder to make the sauce.
- Add the chicken pieces to the sauce and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the cornstarch and all-purpose flour.
- Dip each marinated chicken piece into the beaten egg, then coat it in the flour mixture.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or pot for frying.
- Fry the coated chicken pieces in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per batch.
- Remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
