Goan Fish Curry
A traditional Goan fish curry that combines the flavors of coconut and spices, perfect for a hearty dinner.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - To taste
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Curry leaves - A sprig
- Green chillies - 2, slit
- Ginger - 1 inch piece, finely chopped
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Tomato - 1 large, finely chopped
- Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
- Coconut milk - 1 cup
- Fish - 500 grams, cleaned and cut into pieces
Let's Get Started
- Heat oil in a pan and add the chopped onions, garlic, ginger, green chillies and curry leaves. Saute until the onions turn golden brown.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft.
- Add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt. Mix well and cook for a few minutes.
- Add the fish pieces and gently mix. Cook for a few minutes until the fish is half cooked.
- Pour in the coconut milk and gently stir. Cover the pan and let it simmer for about 10 minutes or until the fish is fully cooked and the flavors are well combined.
- Serve the Goan fish curry hot with rice.
