Gluten Free Baguettes
These gluten-free baguettes are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They're perfect for sandwiches or to serve with soup.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Apple cider vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Egg whites - 3
- Salt - 2 teaspoons
- Xanthan gum - 2 teaspoons
- Gluten-free flour blend - 3 1/2 cups
- Active dry yeast - 2 1/4 teaspoons
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Warm water - 1 1/2 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for 5 minutes, or until it's frothy.
- In a large bowl, combine the gluten-free flour blend, xanthan gum, and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture, egg whites, and apple cider vinegar to the flour mixture. Stir until the dough comes together.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until it's doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). If you have a baking stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a long, thin baguette.
- Place the baguettes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. If you're using a baking stone, transfer the parchment paper directly onto the stone.
- Bake the baguettes for 25 minutes, or until they're golden brown and crispy.
- Let the baguettes cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
