Ginger Beer
A refreshing and natural drink, this homemade ginger beer is perfect for parties and family gatherings.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Water - 8 cups
- Yeast - 1/2 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1/4 cup
- Sugar - 2 cups
- Fresh ginger - 1 cup, peeled and finely chopped
Let's Get Started
- In a large pot, combine the ginger, sugar, and half of the water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Remove the pot from the heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, strain the mixture into a large container, discarding the ginger.
- Stir in the lemon juice, yeast, and the remaining water.
- Cover the container and let it sit at room temperature for 24 hours.
- After 24 hours, strain the mixture again and transfer it to the refrigerator. Let it chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
- Serve your homemade ginger beer over ice, garnished with a slice of lemon or lime if desired.
