Gimbap
Gimbap is a popular Korean dish made with seasoned rice and various fillings rolled in seaweed.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 2 tablespoons
- Pickled radish - 4 strips
- Ham - 4 slices
- Eggs - 4, beaten and cooked into thin omelettes
- Spinach - 1 cup, blanched and squeezed
- Cucumber - 1 medium, julienned
- Carrots - 1 medium, julienned
- Seaweed sheets - 4 sheets
- Sushi rice - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Prepare the sushi rice according to package instructions and let it cool.
- Place a sheet of seaweed on a bamboo sushi mat.
- Spread a thin layer of sushi rice evenly over the seaweed, leaving a small border at the top.
- Arrange the julienned carrots, cucumber, spinach, omelette, ham, and pickled radish in a line across the rice.
- Roll the gimbap tightly using the bamboo mat, applying gentle pressure to secure the fillings.
- Brush the outside of the rolled gimbap with sesame oil for a shiny appearance.
- Slice the gimbap into bite-sized pieces using a sharp knife.
- Serve with soy sauce for dipping.
